Many people don't realize this but DePaul offers outstanding support services as well as an academic program related to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) issues.
The program is offered as a minor. The LGBTQ website
says, "A minor in LGBTQ Studies will enable DePaul students to devote significant study to the experiences of people who do not conform to culturally dominant identities of sexuality and gender: lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer. Such an endeavor is profoundly interdisciplinary by nature and draws on university resources and faculty expertise in a wide array of disciplines. Students in this minor will have the opportunity to analyze the experiences of LGBTQ people on their own terms, as well as through critical perspectives on sexuality and gender as complex social, cultural, biological, and historical phenomena."
In addition, there is an office designated for those who identify with the LGBTQA community called The Office of LGBTQA Services
. This office "exists to promote, foster and support a campus environment that is inclusive of people from all sexualities and gender identities. This mission is achieved through a range of services, educational programs and community building events that reflect the needs and interests of the diverse LGBTQA communities at DePaul." This office holds many events that cater toward the community. For example. this month is National LGBTQA Month and this office is sponsoring many events. You can check them out here
