Sporting Chicago

DePaul is a Big East team where you can see many amazing games in all sports; however, Chicago has many many other outlets in case you get all Blue Demon-ed out. Chicago is a mecca for professional sports. With its rich history including the legendary Bulls with Michael Jordan, there is plenty to see in Chicago if you have a taste for sports.

One of the greatest places to go to get a real taste of Chicago is Wrigley Field, where the Chicago Cubs play. Not only is this stadium one of the most renowned in all of baseball, but it is right in your back yard! Taking only about 5 minutes from the Lincoln Park Campus, Wrigley Field is a mere two Red Line stops away. DePaul students also get some discounts here if you visit the Demon Discounts Page! Another outlet for baseball is another Red Line ride down to the South Side to see the Chicago White Sox play at U.S. Cellular Field! However, you will need to take a shuttle bus part of the way until October due to construction on the Red line.

For all of the football fans, the Chicago Bears play at Soldier Field right off of Lake Shore Drive. All of the games there are definitely going to be a great time, especially when Green Bay is in town!

Another amazing venue to catch some great sports is the United Center. This is downtown in the West Loop and you need to take a bus or a train to get there (the travel time is about 15-20 minutes). Here you can see both the Chicago Bulls play basketball and the Chicago Blackhawks play hockey (if you weren't aware, the Blackhawks are contending for the national championship right now!)

For you soccer fans, the Chicago Fire also plays and offers extremely cheap tickets to watch them! Their stadium, Toyota Park, is a little bit more difficult and time consuming to get to but if you haven't seen them play it is definitely worth it!

Needless to say, there are numerous options for all of the sports fans here in Chicago. Some teams, like the Cubs, even offer discounts for us Blue Demons. When you're here, going to sporting events is just another day in the great city!
