On the Blog Again
Ahhh, it feels good to be back. My summer hiatus from DeBlogging was decidedly eventful. In fact, a little too eventful to try to fit all into one “Back to School Blog”. Plus, we’re practically halfway done with the quarter anyway so I’ll just stick to the present for now. Not to worry, I’m sure I’ll touch on what went on in the warmer months at some point in the future.
Currently, I’m in The Theatre School’s production of Hansel & Gretel. It’s part of our Chicago Playworks series, which is the series geared toward young audiences. It’s been absolutely killer. The idea behind our rendition is that it is a traveling troupe of actors putting this show on and creating the play from a minimalist standpoint. So, it’s, like, a play WITHIN a play, man. Trippy, right? I’m playing Staggio, who is the eldest of the troupe, and Staggio plays the Witch as well. For me, playing the bombastic, expansive Staggio and the despicable Witch have been a challenge in different ways. Taking me out of my comfort zone and all that. But that’s what it’s all about, amirite? (It was at this point that Tyler’s roommate began badgering him about “throwing a few quotes in there”. It took a few minutes to handle that situation. *sigh*) Anyway, we’re finishing up our tech process this weekend and will be running from October 12th to November 16th, three times a week.
Every single one of you should come check it out!
It’s going to be really fun.
Check the website at
for information about tickets and the like.
Tyler’s Hot Track of the Week:
The Hot Track returns!! I’ve been getting into this British guy called Archy Marshall who goes under the stage name King Krule. It’s groovy, funky, and unique. Not a bad combination at all.
